Skylar began her volleyball journey at the age of 10 with Ducks Volleyball , playing in the U12 to U14 divisions. She continued to excel in her sport at St Thomas More Collegiate, where she played for the Grade 8 team. Her team achieved significant success, winning the 2023-2024 Grade 8 Fraser North Championship and the 2023 Grade 8 Junior Girls Volleyball Championship . Currently, Skylar dedicates all her energy to volleyball, constantly applying lessons from the court to her life and vice versa. A setter by position, she is a disciplined athlete who enjoys pushing her limits and learning from her mistakes. Skylar is a true team player, eagerly looking to strengthen her skills and pursue volleyball at the college or university level.
Skylar comes from a family with a rich athletic heritage. She is the daughter of Zobeida and Jamie Slogan, who have Mexican and Ukrainian backgrounds, respectively. Her older sister, Kiana, is a competitive artistic gymnast. Jamie is a two-time provincial champion and record-holder in track and field in Manitoba and also played soccer and volleyball in high school. Zobeida has engaged in various physical activities throughout her life, ranging from bodybuilding to yoga, among other pursuits. This supportive and active family environment has greatly influenced Skylar's dedication to her sport.
Skylar aspires to continue her volleyball career at the college or university level, where she plans to further develop her skills and compete at higher levels. Her commitment to volleyball is matched by her desire to grow both as an athlete and an individual. Skylar's disciplined approach, combined with her ability to learn from her experiences, sets her on a path to achieving her athletic and academic goals. She embodies a blend of ambition, talent, and perseverance, making her a role model for aspiring young athletes.
