Our Mission
At Arsenal Volleyball Academy, we know there is much more at stake than the score of the game. While one priority is to continually strive to improve the position of the club and each of its teams through advanced physical training and a solid volleyball education, our players will also learn the value of teamwork, sacrifice, patience, tolerance, respect for others, and honest communication.
We pledge to provide a safe, encouraging and demanding atmosphere so that each individual may have an opportunity to improve on the court and off. |
Comprehensive Practice and Game Systems
Systematic approaches in which players receive appropriate development at each level helps make a smooth transition from year to year. This enables our coaches to plan appropriately in order to build on the previous years’ volleyball education and to prepare the players for the next level. Each coach will have room to be an individual, allowing them to utilize their personal strengths while being supported by the club system and staff. |
Skills Clinics
These clinics offer the benefits of position-specific lessons in a group atmosphere, and they are already included in your fees. Each clinic will be conducted by coaches who are experienced in playing and coaching the particular skill being taught. |
College Advisement Program
Assistance will be available for players who are interested in playing volleyball at the college level. By making sure our players are taking the necessary steps to make playing collegiate volleyball a reality, we will be able to add significantly to their club experience. |
Private Lessons
Some players wish to invest even more time in their volleyball career outside of team practices. We offer intensive, position-specific private lessons and players will be directed to coaches who have actually played and taught each position. |
Plyometric
Intensive conditioning to increase the ability of players to produce fast, powerful movements helps to increase performance on the volleyball court. We will be training at EM Speed and Power Training Foundation. These training sessions are mandatory for our elite teams and included in your fees, but will also be an option for all players for an additional fee. During plyometric training, players will be measured periodically in order to monitor their progress.
The technical definition of Plyometrics is a type of exercise training designed to produce fast, powerful movements, and improve the functions of the nervous system, generally for the purpose of improving performance in sports. Plyometric movements, in which a muscle is loaded and then contracted in rapid sequence, use the strength, elasticity and innervation of muscle and surrounding tissues to jump higher, run faster, throw farther, or hit harder, depending on the desired training goal. Plyometrics is used to increase the speed or force of muscular contractions, often with the goal of increasing the height of a jump.
A less formal description of Plyometrics is a type of exercise that increases total explosiveness in the body. Fast twitch muscle fibers are used to generate this power, thus increasing the maximal potential in the muscle. For volleyball plyometrics will increase vertical jump as well as side to side speed used especially for defense and digging balls. Some volleyball players aren't asked to spike or block or dig, but the purpose of the training is to make the most well rounded athletes possible, taking the "I can't" out of any situation. | |
